卵叶车前(Plantago ovata)的种子外皮是一种常用的轻泻剂,以前广泛用于民间医疗,近年来,卵叶车前已被世界各地的医生所接受,并用于治疗习惯性便秘。通常认为卵叶车前的轻泻作用是由于其所含有的纤维素和亲水性粘液所致,但由于其泻下作用强于其它容积性泻药,因而推测可能含有引起泻下作用的其他化学成分存在。为此在这方面进行了进一步研究。
The seed rind of Plantago ovata is a commonly used laxative. It was previously widely used in folk medicine. In recent years, it has been accepted by doctors around the world and used to treat habitual constipation. It is generally believed that the laxative effect of the oviduct is due to the cellulose and hydrophilic mucilage it contains, but it is presumed that it may contain other chemicals that cause laxative effects because of its laxative effect stronger than other volumetric laxatives.
