TWo complexes Ni(PAP)Cl2, Ni(PAP)2Cl2 were synthesized and characterized with IR. The IR data show that Ni(II) in Ni(PAP)2Cl2 is octahedral Structure and the electron donor atoms 2Cl, ZP and 2N are in trans position. The molecular structure of Ni(PAP)Cl2 shows that center nickel atom has square-planar configuration. All donor atoms. nickel atom and pyridine cycle are located almost in the same plane. Both the two complexes are of good catalytic activity for carboxylation of ethanol.
