IN this decade, great attention has been paid to PCl(b_1∑~+) because of its potential importance in chemical laser. Coxon et al. studied the reaction of Ar(~3P_o,2) with PCl_3 and observed two band systems of PCl(A_3Ⅱ→X~3∑~-) and (b~1∑~+→X~3∑~-).
