逢年过节,各国人民都有自己的饮食习俗。它集中展示了一个民族的饮食传统和古老文明。特别是元旦,更可谓丰富多彩,乐趣无穷。 专吃猪肉,不吃鸡肉。美国菜大多是从英国菜演变过来的。喜吃鸡、鸭、鱼、肉、蛋、海味和野味,其中特别是火鸡、牛肉和鹅。但在元旦这一天,则要吃猪肉。据信猪会给食者带来“富裕的未来”。元旦这天不能吃火鸡和鸡,因为鸡在寻找食物时多爱用爪向后挖掘,边挖掘边往后退,这对人是不吉的。 还有,在除夕之夜,当半夜12点钟刚到,要吃一种黑眼豆,据信可在新的一年中给人带来幸福。
