焦作地区是我国重要煤炭基地之一,又是耐火粘土重要产地。地质工作开展早,研究程度高。但对奥陶系之上的一套粘土岩为主的地层的时代及其生成环境,一直有所争论。一些老资料和教课书依据粘土岩系之上灰岩(L_1—L_2)中的(竹蜓)类化石口Pseudoschwagering sp.,将其时代统统划归晚石炭世,近来有人把这套粘土岩系(包括铝土矿)划归早石炭世;多数地质工作者则认为该套粘土岩系应归中石炭世。河南大部甚至包括部分山西境内的粘土岩系的时代,同样存在这个争论问题。一九八二年,我们在博爱县黄岑粘土岩
Jiaozuo region is one of China’s major coal bases, but also an important source of refractory clay. Geological work carried out early, a high degree of research.
