随着女权运动的发展,英语中出现了许多取代原来有性别歧视的语词,如Ms、congressperson、chairperson、spokesperson等,这些语词在一定程度上满足了人们使用的需要。但是,语言是变化发展的,随着这些语词的频繁使用,这些语词的内涵意义和联想意义都发生了改变,一些原本中性的语词又带有了性别歧视的色彩。在英语学习中,学习者应该了解这些语词的意义和用法,慎用带有性别歧视的语词,以便更好地使用英语。
With the development of the feminist movement, there are many words in English that replace the original gender discrimination, such as Ms, congressperson, chairperson, spokesperson, etc. These words to a certain extent, meet the needs of people. However, the language is evolving. With the frequent use of these words, the connotative meaning and the associative meanings of these words have been changed. Some original neutral words have the sexism. In English learning, learners should understand the meaning of these words and usage, be careful with sexist terms, in order to make better use of English.
