系列动画片“西游记健康新传”是山西省健康教育中心,太原市卫生局、太原市疾控中心共同开发的健康传播项目。该项目讲述孙悟空、唐僧、沙僧、猪八戒受佛祖之托,为人类健康,二次西天去取健康真经的故事。在西行的路上,遇到了多种疾病对人类健康的危害,要除掉这些病魔妖怪,并非易事。不能保除妖那样,用刀枪棍棒解决问题。这些病魔札根于人类生活方式、生存环境、食品安全等多方面。对人类健康的危害远远大于第一次西天取经时自妖魔鬼怪。如冠心病、高血压、脑卒中、糖尿病、肿瘤、禽流感、结核病、肝炎、艾滋病、麻疹等。其中慢病篇的预防高血压在2016年的全国做电视健康传播大赛中获三等奖。本集《预防麻疹》描写师徒四人向西行走,路过比丘国,发现城内孩子断断续续得了种怪病,开始是发热、咳嗽、流鼻涕、流眼泪,后来就全身出疹子,无法喘息,悟空叫出土地神一问才知这些患儿待的是麻疹,经接种太上老君研制的麻疹疫苗,患儿才得到有效救治,而没发病的孩儿也能有效预防。麻疹是由麻疹病毒引起的急性传染病,传染性极强,多见于儿童,至今尚无特殊抗麻疹病毒药物,只能对症处理和预防并发症。注射疫苗是预防麻疹的最佳方法,麻疹病毒经空气飞沫传播,而麻疹患者是唯一的传染源。对麻疹如何治疗,在生活中如何预防,片中进行详述。
