Davidia involucrata Baill, also known as water pear, water melon, the world famous rare ornamental tree species. Flowering like a group of white pigeons habitat in the tree, foreign “Chinese pigeon tree,” said. During the 1964 Geneva Conference, Premier Chou En-lai met the tree in Switzerland. When he learned that the country of origin was China, he had urged a large number of cultivation. Davidia natural distribution in China’s northwestern Hubei, southwestern Sichuan and Guizhou elevation of 1200 ~ 1800 meters in the broad-leaved forest. There are sporadic distributions in Zhenping and Shirakawa in the eastern part of Bashan, Shaanxi Province. As a result of sparsely populated mother trees, it is not easy to seed and reproduce, and the number of trees is decreasing in recent years. In 1980, we took the seeds from Enshi, Hubei Province for sowing seedlings and have succeeded.
