The authors have been engaged in the screening of platelet activating factor (PAF) inhibitors in Korean medicinal plants for many years. Biota Orientalis (L.) Endl. Two compounds were isolated: pinusolide and cedrol. Its IC50 for inhibiting the binding of PAF and platelet-free receptor is 2.5×10-7mol/L [(0.87±0.009)μg/mL] and 1.3×10-5mo, respectively.
