坝基岩体中的软弱夹层,是水利水电建设中经常遇到的重大工程地质问题。它密切关系着大坝的安全,影响到设计方案、工程投资和施工工期。因此,对它的研究愈来愈深入。目前习惯所说的软弱夹层,是指层状岩石中泥质(或性质相似的炭质等类物质)含量高、岩性软弱、力学强度低、相对上下岩层性状有显著差别、对建筑物稳定有影响、需采取相应工程措施的薄夹层。软弱夹层在不同地质时代的各种层状岩石中均可出现。
