Aberdeen, an important wheat cultivar currently planted on a large area in China, was imported from abroad in 1956. Since its introduction, it has been well received by the poor and middle peasants because of its high yield, adaptability and rust resistance, and its planting area has rapidly expanded It has become an important cultivated variety in many areas of Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Jiangsu and Shanghai, and has played a significant role in increasing wheat output. It has been highly resistant to stripe rust over a large area for a considerable period of time after its introduction. However, in recent years, many areas have become infected with stripe rust, or have begun to appear rust degradation. This situation has drawn the attention of the relevant production and research departments. In order to understand the current status and history of the stripe rust infection of the cultivars, explore the reasons and development trends of the rust resistance degradation and provide the necessary reference for the breeding and popularization of anti-rust varieties
