Objective:To study the association of plasma level of β-endorphin (β-EP),pulmonary function and arterial blood gas in patients with Cor pulmonale during acute exacerbation.Methods:32 patients were examined during acute exacerbation. The plasma level of β-EP was determined by radioimmunoassay and minute ventilation (MV),arterial blood gas were assessed.Result:the plasma level of β-EP and PaCO 2 increased markedly in acute exacerbation stage in comparison with normal controls PaO 2 and MV were significantly decreased (P<0.01).Linear correlation analyses showed that β-EP were inversely correlated with PaO 2 and MV during acute exacerbation and positively correlated with PaCO 2.Conclusions:the plasma level of was significantly increased in the Cor pulmonale during acute exacerbation. It modulated the respiratory function and has close relation with the development of Cor pulmonary.

Result: the plasma level of β-EP and PaCO 2 increased markedly in acute exacerbation stage in comparison with normal controls PaO 2 and MV were significantly decreased (P <0.01) .Linear correlation analyzes have shown that β-EP were inversely correlated with PaO 2 and MV during acute exacerbation and positively correlated with PaCO 2. Conclusions: the plasma level of was increased increased in the Cor pulmonale during acute exacerbation. It modulated the respiratory function and has close relation with the development of Cor pulmonary.
