栾湾乡位于平阴县东北部,素以富产石灰、石子、石型材类建筑材料而著称。该乡三面环山,山石中石灰石质量好、含量极丰,所产石材多为豆青色,石质坚硬耐腐蚀易切割,是烧制石灰、制作型材和铺路石子的上乘原料;山地土壤富含钙质、粘性大,适宜烧制建筑砖瓦。该乡隔黄河与一望无际的华北大平原相望,平原上城市和农村建设都需要大量“三石”类建筑材料,是广阔的市场。栾湾乡境内柏油路四通八达,黄河边有3个码头和渡口,
