婺剧传统剧目《火烧子都》是一出翻、打、扑、跌技巧难度很大的武生重头戏。此剧的思想内容酷似莎士比亚的《麦克佩斯》,而它的表演又极富形式美。1989年我执导重新改编的《火烧子都》,参加了浙江省第四届戏剧节演出,引起了强烈反响,深受专家和观众的青睐。中国戏曲优秀的传统剧目,都是由无数老前辈按照从生活出发的原则磨砺出来的精品。因此导演排戏,必须首先了解原剧的精神和演出面貌,然后再进行挖掘、丰富。
