《叶名琛档案——清代两广总督衙门残牍》是刘志伟教授和陈玉环女士根据英国国家档案馆藏存档案微缩胶卷,历经艰辛整理出版的、研究中国近代史尤其是鸦片战争史的珍贵史料。本文仅围绕与“拜会”这一关键词相关的部分档案文件所反映史实的初步梳理,通过对地方官府的主观认知、地方社会包括士绅阶层的多样化面貌以及双方的复杂互动的描述和分析,来呈现19世纪50年代广东社会复杂现状的一些侧面。笔者不揣浅陋,作此小文,既是挂一漏万地对内涵极其丰富的《叶名琛档案》的研习,更期能够引起学界同仁对该重要档案资料的关注和利用。
“Archives of Ye Mingchen - Governor of the Qing Dynasty Yamen Mantis” is a precious historical material for studying the modern history of China, especially that of the Opium War, based on the archival microfilm stored by the National Archives of the United States and published by Dr. Chen Yuhuan after hard and hard work. This article only focuses on the historical facts reflected in some archives related to the key words of “worship meeting”. Through the subjective cognition of local government, the diversified appearance of local society including the gentry class and the complex interaction between the two sides And analysis, to present some aspects of the complicated social status of Guangdong in the 1850s. The author does not pretend to be plain and simple. This small article is not only a one-to-one study of the archives with a very rich content, but also can arouse the concern and utilization of academic colleagues in this important archival material.
