The Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will hold a symposium on nuclear energy in Tokyo on April 17-20, 1989, in cooperation with Japan's Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In general, the current nuclear industry in the world is at a standstill, but in many ways it is still superior to other industrial sectors in terms of its overall performance indicator. Currently there are more than 600 nuclear reactors in the world, and although some of them are under construction or design, 65% have been put into commercial operation. At the same time, except for Three Mile Island Heap No. 2 and Chernobyl No. 4 Heap, the others are all working well. From the point of view of future development, both Japan and France are particularly active in developing nuclear energy.
