解放以来，我县民办小学同公立小学一样，在党和政府的重视和支持下，象雨后春笋般的成长茁壮。1957年全县计有小学三百一十六所，学生有六千一百九十六名；其中民小校数是公小的156％，民小学生是公小的42％。在教育质量方面，绝大多数民小都能认真上课，学生成绩一般不低于公立小学。我们也一直重视加强对民小的领导，每个学期除在工作意见中对民小工作进行布置和提出要求外，并着重采取以下措施：
