Plastic tubing has a history of more than 60 years and was first produced by Germany in 1936 and used for acid and sewage transportation. China began to use it in the early 1960s and it is mainly used for transporting corrosive liquids such as acids and alkalis. The output is very small. In 1980, China produced 51,000 tons of plastic pipes, 99,000 tons in 1990, and 133,000 in 1993.
