这个小镇原本并不叫墨冲,而是叫麦冲。据当地人说在很久很久以前,这里就开始种麦子,而且长得特别的旺茂,所以才叫作麦冲。后来,乾隆皇帝在一次钦点卷子时发现那些进京赶考的举子中有好几位是麦冲人,甚觉稀奇,于是就把麦冲改为墨充,取文墨充足之意。解放后又把墨充改为墨冲,显然是取前称的一个“冲”和后称的一个“墨”拼凑而成。那么,这种拼凑是否反映了某些人的某种心态,这里就不得而知了。不过,由于墨冲这一小镇所处的地理位置,它几乎就是处在都匀与独山两地连接线的中点上,是黔、桂两省交通要道的必经之地。镇的东边是一条铁路,白天晚上时有隆
This town was originally called Mo Chong, but called Mai Chong. According to the locals, it was a long, long time ago that wheat was grown here, and it looked particularly flourishing, so it was called Mai Chong.
