How did Silicon Valley succeed? Was it because of the regional environment-Stanford nearby? The University of Cambridge is also a world class institution. But the Cambridge high tech faced crisis, largely lagged behind Silicon Valley. We discussed the reason and the Cambridge experience suggests that creating a dynamic high tech area is not simply thing like combining necessary ingredients. It is the building of institutions and relationships that support the development of innovative enterprises.
