刘国钧先生,字衡如,1899年生于南京,是我国著名的图书馆学家,图书馆教育家,在分类、编目、中国书史、现代情报技术及哲学研究方面多有建树。1980年5月因病逝世。逝世前任北京大学图书馆学系主任、北京图书馆顾问、国家科委图书小组成员、中国图书馆学会名誉理事。其主要编著有:《中国图书分类法》(1929)、《中文图书编目条例》(1930)、《图书馆学要旨》(1934)、《图书馆目录》(1957)、《中国书史简编》(1958)、《现代西方主要图书分类法评述》(1978)等。本文是本刊最近获得的刘国钧先生1965年致我国著名情报学家丁珂(1924—1959)的一封信。信中对丁珂的《检索工作名词及其涵义》(第一部分)一文(已在本刊1982年第4期上发表)提出了一些修改意见,并就有关检索的若干常用名词进行了详尽的讨论。这封信虽是25年前写的,但对于当前我国图书馆学、情报学界正在进行的名词术语标准化工作以及情报检索理论研究仍有一定的指导意义。今年是刘国钧先生逝世十周年。本刊全文发表此信,以纪念这位图书馆学、情报学界的老前辈。本文由本刊编委侯汉清同志供稿,并在文内加了一些注释,谨致谢意。
Born in Nanjing in 1899, Mr. Liu Guojun is a famous library scientist and library educator in China. He has made a lot of achievements in classification, cataloging, history of Chinese books, modern information technology and philosophical studies. May 1980 died of illness. Before his death, he was the director of Peking University Library Department, the consultant of Beijing Library, the member of National Science and Technology Commission Book Group and the honorary director of China Library Association. The main compilation are: “Chinese Library Classification” (1929), “Catalog of Chinese Books” (1930), “Essentials of Library Science” (1934), “Library Catalog” (1957), “ (1958), ”Modern Western Classification of Major Books“ (1978) and so on. This article is a letter recently obtained by our journal, Mr. Liu Guojun, in 1965 to Ding Ke, a well-known information scientist in China (1924-1959). The letter made a number of amendments to Ding Ke’s article on ”Retrieval of Working Terms and Their Consequences" (Part I) (already published in Issue 4, 1982) and provided a detailed discuss. Although this letter was written 25 years ago, there is still some guiding significance for the ongoing standardization of terminology and the theory of intelligence retrieval in China’s library science and information science community. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the death of Mr. Liu Guojun. The full text of the publication of this letter, in honor of the library science, information industry veteran.
