INTRODUCTION In recent years, small and compact printers using diode lasers as light sources for use in offices have been studied. Inorganic photoconductors and inexpensive organic materials that have been discarded after use have been used in such printers. Some long-wave sensitive organic photoconductors have been reported in the literature, of which the phthalocyanines have proven to be very useful. Phthalocyanines have several crystalline forms, such as many of the divalent metal phthalocyanines and metal-free phthalocyanines in two forms, namely, the α-form that is thermally unstable and the β-form that is thermally stable. Under certain conditions, occasional stable forms of heat can be obtained, which are particularly sensitive to near-infrared light
