由美国檀香山中华总商会组织的第三十六届夏威夷「水仙花皇后」旅行团,于今年六月二十五日至二十七日访问了北京。夏威夷的华人社会每年春天都举行「水仙花节」。一九五○年,美国下令对华禁运,中国货无法运入美国,夏威夷经营粮食的华人,面临破产危机。檀香山中华总商会为了帮助他们渡过难关,从当年开始举办了「水仙花节」晚会,藉以传播中华文化,吸引游客,开辟财源。晚会上除了表演中国舞狮、舞蹈和音乐外,还以美貌、才智等为标准,推选出水仙花皇后一名,公主四名(今年又新设友谊小姐一名)。这些皇后、公主都必须是华裔(或父亲是华裔》。从此这种选举成了定例,并延续下来。近年来,他们组成水仙花皇后旅行团,担负起代表当地华人到中国大陆和台湾等地进行亲善访问的使命。今年六月,旅行团在北京活动期间,本文作者曾随团探访。这里发表的是她的采访日记。
The 36th Hawaii Daffodil Queen Tour organized by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Honolulu, United States, visited Beijing from June 25 to 27 this year. The Hawaiian Chinese community holds “Narcissus Festival” each spring. In 1950, the United States ordered a embargo on China, Chinese goods could not be shipped to the United States, and the Chinese operating food in Hawaii faced a bankruptcy crisis. In order to help them weather the storm, Honolulu General Chamber of Commerce held a “Narcissus Festival” evening from that year to spread Chinese culture, attract tourists and open up new sources of income. In addition to performing Chinese lion dance, dance and music, the party also selected the queen of daffodils and four princesses for beauty and intelligence (this year, a new Miss friendship will be held). These queens and princesses must all be Chinese descendants (or their fathers are Chinese) .This election has since become an established case and continues in recent years, they form the queen’s tour of Narcissus, take on behalf of local Chinese to China and Taiwan and other places Mission of visiting for goodwill.In June this year, during the event of the tour in Beijing, the author of this paper visited the delegation and published a diary of her interview.
