Complexing agent DTPA can effectively remove plutonium and other actinides from the body. This effect is related to the duration of its effective concentration in the blood. Given the short biological half-life of Zn-DTPA injected into the body, the authors designed a chronic release dosage form that was subcutaneously implanted with Zn-DTPA.
