To meet the growing demand for cleaner cars, better fuel economy and better engine performance, Nissan Motor Co. has developed the new VK56 VD gasoline engine. The 5.6 L V8 gasoline engine will be used in the new Infiniti M56 sports luxury sedan. In order to improve the power and efficiency, and reduce the influence of the engine on the environment, the gasoline engine adopts the key technologies of continuously variable valve operation and lift, direct injection of gasoline and the like. The details of the VK56 VD gasoline engine are introduced as well as the highlights of the technology used and the development measures.
