作为中国历史最悠久的港口之一,宁波港从内河港、河口港向深水海港演变的两千年间,留下大量文化遗产有待梳理。历史上中国沿海地区因抗御海潮不足,常有堤塘失修而损毁、崩溃,海潮泛滥的灾难发生。宁波建造抗御海潮堤塘工事之传统由来已久,或土垒、或石砌,百里一线,与海岸线相始终,以保障内陆百姓的正常生活与庄稼的茁壮成长。其中不乏有慈善者出资保护海塘,比如中国港口博物馆藏有千丈塘碑,是为纪念善士周文美对地方水利事业慈举的碑石。
As one of the ports with the longest history in China, Ningbo Port has left a large number of cultural heritages to be sorted out during the two thousand years of evolution from the port of inland river and estuary to the port of deep water. Historically, coastal areas in China have been facing a shortage of defensive tide, and their dilapidation, collapse and tide of sea tide often occur due to disrepair of the dyke. The tradition of building defensive tide in Ningbo has long been a tradition, or the soil barrier, or stone, Barry line, and the coastline always in order to protect the normal life of inland people and the robust growth of crops.
