OBJECTIVE: To investigate the serum osteocalcin and bone alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels in idiopathic short stature (ISS) children and investigate the function of osteoblasts. Methods: Forty ISS children were selected as study group (study group), 20 normal children as control group. Serum osteocalcin and bone alkaline phosphatase levels were measured by ELISA. Results: The levels of serum osteocalcin and bone alkaline phosphatase in the study group were (67.92 ± 17.48) μg / L and (76.90 ± 23.96) U / L, respectively, and those in the control group were (86.16 ± 25.03) μg / L and ) U / L. Serum levels of osteocalcin and bone alkaline phosphatase in the study group were lower than those in the normal control group, with statistical significance (P <0.05). Conclusion: Osteoblasts in ISS children have bone formation disorders.
