The Law of the People’s Republic of China on Supervision of the Standing Committees of People’s Congresses was passed by the Twenty-third Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People’s Congress on August 27, 2006 and will come into force on January 1 next year. This is an important measure for the building of a socialist democracy and legal system in our country. The NPC attaches great importance to studying and implementing the law of supervision. On August 27, Chairman Wu Bangguo delivered an important speech at the closing ceremony of the Twenty-Third Meeting of the Tenth NPC Standing Committee, setting forth clear requirements on the implementation of the Law on Supervision. On August 30, Vice Chairman Wang Zhaoguo presided over the forum and conducted research and deployment on the implementation of the Law on Supervision.
