The contractual utilized foreign investment amounted to 118.99 billion U.S. dollars, An increase of 34.19% over the same period of last year. The actually utilized foreign investment amounted to 53.781 billion U.S. dollars, up 23.47% over the same period of last year. As of the end of October 2004, China had totally approved 500,479 foreign-funded enterprises, with a contractual foreign investment of 1,062.129 billion U.S. dollars and actual utilized foreign capital of 555.25 billion U.S. dollars.
