故宫博物院珍藏一只古样素雅的竹茶炉,方不盈尺,高仅四寸,圆上方下,陶坭为膛,周实以土,编篾作围,摄周篚,似虞鼎,是一件我国民间传统的手工艺佳品。这双竹茶炉,很为讲究工精料贵、装饰富丽的乾隆皇帝所赏识。它被带进宫来,是在乾隆十六年(1751年)。这年,乾隆帝第一次南巡,回程途中,再过无锡,在惠山听松庵见到明代僧人性海所制竹茶炉,古样可爱。汲二泉水(在惠山,博唐隆羽评为“天下第二泉”),拾松宝堕枝,烹茶啜茗。
