OBJECTIVE: To summarize the possible molecular mechanism of CXCL12 and its receptor CXCR4 in the metastasis of colorectal cancer. Methods: A literature review was conducted to collect the literature about the intervention of CXCL12 / CXCR4 signal transduction pathway in colorectal cancer in the past 10 years in various magazines, and the possible mechanisms of action were collected. Results: The signal transduction pathway composed of chemokine CXCL12 and its receptor CXCR4 plays an important role in promoting the proliferation, migration, invasion, extracellular matrix degradation and tumor angiogenesis of colorectal cancer cells. CONCLUSION: CXCL12 / CXCR4 signal transduction pathway is expected to be a new target for gene therapy of colorectal cancer metastasis. However, the specific transduction pathway and regulatory mechanism of CXCL12 / CXCR4 signaling pathway have not been completely elucidated and need further study.
