This study examines changes in parent-child relationships that help to clarify the balance between personalization and cohesion in the eleven to seventeen years. The data for this article are taken from the mother, father and oldest child of 110 of the oldest children of 11, 14 and 17 years of age. There are three approaches involved: a survey of children’s attitudes toward family decision-making, independence, love, understanding and attitudes toward parents, a LOVING measure of the self-esteem of parents and children, and a measure of family members’ Free evaluation of the mutual favorite quality. The findings of the study provide observations concerning the expectations and processes involved in amending the nature of pro-early child-parent relationships.
