对大多外国跨国公司而言,中国早已不是异国他乡,而是一块愿意为之倾注热情、参与建设的“热土”。通用汽车,这个一开始就带着“做一家为中国人着想的公司”的诚意来到中国的投资者,在为中国汽车工业注入活力的同时,也树立了自己的形象。 2001年从支持北京申奥到提供APEC会议用车,以及赞助九运会推动中国体育事业发展,通用汽车一直以一个“企业公民”的身份,尽着他认为应尽的“义务”,此次通用汽车又加入了上海申博后援团,为上海申请承办2010年世博会助阵。热情的投入理所当然会获得丰厚的回报,仅仅三四年的时间,通用汽车与上汽集团的合作项目——上海通用就成为通用汽车公司全球范围内五个最好的项目之一,而2001年通用汽车更是以在中国市场销售6万多辆汽车、销量翻番的成绩交出了一份漂亮的答卷。日前,记者有幸采访了通用汽车中国公司董事长兼首席执行官墨斐先生,请他就浦东和上海经济的发展,及通用汽车今后在中国的目标谈了些想法。
