We investigated the distribution of P2X receptors in the taste buds and adjacent tissues of rats using polyclonal antibodies to P2X_1, P2X_2, P2X_3, P2X_4, P2X_5 and P2X_6 receptors, PAP immunohistochemistry, and gold-silver strengthening of the DAB end products to explore the role of ATP in The possible role of taste stimulus transmission. The distribution of P2X_3 receptor immunoreactivity was consistent with that of P2X_3, but the staining was much lighter than that of P2X_3. The results suggest that ATP may be a neurotransmitter in the taste buds of taste buds. ATP activates taste signals to the sensory afferent nerves by activating P2X receptors on axons.
