1986年1月,我曾受著名英籍女作家韩素音女士的邀请,参加了她为成立韩素音中国与西方科学交流基金会而举行的记者招待会。这个基金会的任务是,帮助中国培养科技决策人员,促进中外科研人员的交流。她亲任基金会的主席,并捐出了自己积攒了几十年的稿酬作为基金。时隔两年的1980年2月,韩素音又来到北京,我去采访了她。碰巧她正要面试一名申请她的基金会资助到美国去进修的
In January 1986, I was invited by Ms. Han Suyin, a famous British woman writer, to attend her press conference to establish Han Su Yin China and the Western Science Exchange Foundation. The mission of this foundation is to help China train science and technology policy makers and promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign researchers. She is the chairman of the Foundation and has donated her own contributions which she has accumulated for decades. After two years in February 1980, Han Suyin came to Beijing again and I went to interview her.
