The chemical constituents of 16 wild watermelon resources from Botswana in Africa were analyzed, and their genetic relationship with cultivated watermelon was also discussed. The results showed that the seed fat of these watermelon resources mainly composed of four kinds of fatty acids, namely palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid, of which about 20% of saturated fatty acids. Unsaturated fatty acids accounted for about 80% of the two unsaturated fatty acids were highly negative correlation; these resources in the pericarp pectin content of cultivars 2-3 times higher, with economic value; genetic relationship found that these resources Mostly belong to Cardiff Watermelon [C. Lanatusssp. lanatusvar. caffer (Schrad) Mansf. ], And the current cultivated watermelon belong to the same kind of different varieties, many of their precious traits for our cultivation of watermelon (including watermelon) varieties will have an important value.
