杨石先同志是我国久负盛名的教育家和化学家。因病不幸于一九八五年二月十九日凌晨逝世,终年八十九岁。他历任第一至第五届全国人大代表,第五、第六届全国政协常委,中国科学院学部委员、化学部主任、名誉主任,国家科委化学组组长、名誉组长,中国化学会理事长、名誉理事长,民进天津市主委,民进中央顾问,天津市科协主席,全国科协副主席,南开大学校长、名誉校长,南开大学元素所所长、名誉所长等职。他在我国教育和科技战线奋斗了六十余年,在培育人才和科学研究上作出了卓越贡献,
Comrade Yang Shixian is a renowned educator and chemist in our country. Unfortunately, it died at midnight on February 19, 1985 and was aged 89. He served as the first to the Fifth National People’s Congress, the fifth, the sixth CPPCC Standing Committee, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Director of Chemistry, Honorary Director, State Science and Technology Chemical Group Leader, Honorary Leader, Chinese Chemical Society Long, honorary chairman, chairman of the People’s Democratic Republic of Tianjin, China Jinjin Central Consultant, chairman of Tianjin Association for Science and Technology, vice chairman of the National Association for science and technology, president of Nankai University, honorary president, Nankai University Institute of Element, honorary director and other staff. He has been fighting for more than 60 years in the education and science and technology front in our country and made outstanding contributions in nurturing talents and scientific research.
