With the agreement of Zhejiang Provincial Education Commission, the 1989 Seminar on English Teaching Materials for Secondary Vocational Schools, sponsored by the Hangzhou Foreign Studies Association and the Hangzhou English Department, was held in Hangzhou from July 20 to July 26, 1989. 120 English teachers from 102 subordinate and local secondary technical schools attended the symposium, making the seminar a grand event with a wide range and strong representativeness in secondary vocational schools in recent years.
