康柏电脑公司针对企业数据存储量每年翻一番的增长速度,计划推出按用户需求提供无限存储资源的一项新存储池技术VersaStor。VersaStor技术创造了单个动态数据存储池的环境,在这个环境中,用户可以通过网络存储系统透明而有效地移动数据,以及时响应日益增长的存储需求。通过提供基于SAN的存储虚拟化功能,VersaStor技术简化了存储管理,扩大了开放式SAN的实施规模,增强了数据恢复功能,最终提高了公司对业务需求的响应速度。康柏公司的VersaStor技术包括VersaStor管理软件、VersaStor设备以及VersaStor代理技术三个方面。康柏将为系统软件供应商和主机总线适配器供应商提供一个VersaStor代理技术工具箱,以帮助他们进行新产品的开发。
Compaq Computer Corporation plans to double VersaStor, a new storage pooling solution that offers unlimited storage on a per-user basis, to the doubling of enterprise data storage each year. VersaStor technology creates a single dynamic data storage pool environment in which users can move data transparently and efficiently through networked storage systems in response to growing storage needs. By providing SAN-based storage virtualization, VersaStor technology streamlines storage management, expands the scale of open SAN implementations and enhances data recovery capabilities, ultimately increasing the company’s responsiveness to business needs. Compaq’s VersaStor technology includes VersaStor management software, VersaStor devices and VersaStor agent technology in three areas. Compaq will provide system software vendors and host bus adapter vendors with a VersaStor Agent Technology Toolbox to help them develop new products.
