When the hollow-walled tubes (diameter 650mm, wall thickness 140-150mm) of O8Cr18Ni12Ti steel were centrifugally cast at the Nipoli Southern Pipe Plant, there were many scrapped persons for a long time due to the presence of small cracks in the cross section of the billet. Cracks in the head of the slab (corresponding to the casting end) are machined to resemble white spots. The amount of waste in individual periods accounts for 20-25% of the pouring volume.
