南昌县位于赣中北部,赣江、抚河下游,鄱阳湖之滨,呈上弦月三面环绕省会南昌.是南昌市的南大门。南昌县境内有京九、浙赣、皖赣、向莆四条铁路主干线,105、316、320三条国道与梨厚、京福等高速公路纵横交织,向西铁路货运编组站为“江南第一”。南昌县国土总面积1723平方公里,辖16个乡镇、1个国家级经济开发区和1个银三角新区、263个行政村。南昌县有耕地100万亩、水面100万亩、人口100万、粮食年产100万吨。
