刺绣是苗族源远流长的手工艺术,是苗族服饰主要的装饰手段,是苗族女性文化的重要代表。湘西苗族刺绣的艺术特色主要表现在既受到楚汉文化和周边少数民族刺绣的影响,又有自己鲜明的民族特色,表现出一种热烈奔放的浪漫风格。苗族刺绣艺术与楚艺术的风格颇有一致性,二者的纹样组合复杂、饱满,手法细腻,线条优美,有怪异之形而无狰狞之态,使人感到亲切、纯真、朴实。
Embroidery is a long history of Miao handicrafts, Miao clothing is the main decorative means, is an important representative of the Miao women’s culture. The artistic characteristics of Miao embroidery in western Hunan are mainly manifested in its warm and imaginative romantic style, which is influenced not only by the Chu-Han culture and the embroidery of ethnic minorities in the surrounding areas but also by its distinctive national features. Miao embroidery art and Chu art quite consistent style, the combination of the two patterns is complex, full, delicate technique, beautiful lines, there are strange forms of unobtrusive state, people feel warm, pure, simple.
