抚顺是我国的煤都。之所以称为煤都,是因为当时煤的产量及质量居全国之冠。煤的挥发性好,灰分较低,热量高达7000大卡,是全国最好的炼焦煤。鞍钢、本钢所需的焦炭原料,主要是依靠抚顺。在国际上直到现在日本仍然迫切要求进口抚顺的煤炭。解放后,抚顺向全国各媒矿输送了数万名干部和工程技术人员,包括老技术工人。全国各主要煤矿几乎均有抚顺去的干部、
