周济(1781—1839)字保绪,一字介存,号止庵,江苏荆溪(今宜兴)人。清代常州词派重要理论家。一般以为,常州词派虽然由张惠言创立,但使词派理论系统化并产生较大影响力的,是周济。周济是词论家,传统的文人,但一般人想不到的是,他的人生经历颇有传奇色彩。如果以道光八年,周济四十七岁为界,他的一生可以明显地分为前后两期,前期主要是以侠客、豪士、小官吏的面目出现,后期才是文人、词论家。
