In the ground seismic response analysis, the dynamic deformation characteristics of the soil must be determined by on-site seismic observations and laboratory tests. In practice, the shear modulus at small stress levels was measured from on-site seismic observations. On the other hand, the shear modulus and damping ratio and the strain-related changes were measured from laboratory tests. In order to make the measured results in the field and the results measured in the laboratory related to each other, there must be a shear modulus at a small stress level measured from the site and the laboratory. Based on a previous comparative study of these two results, it was found that the hard clay and dense sand were measured on site and in the laboratory.
