Year 2015 will have one extra second to compensate for the Earth’s slowing rotation.It will be at the end of June 30,2015 at 23:59:60Coordinated Universal Time(UTC).Earth’s rotation Earth’s rotation is the rotation of the solid Earth around its own axis.The Earth rotates from the west towards the east.As viewed from the North Star or polestar Polaris,the Earth turns counter-clockwise.
