Karen Brixen’s “Out of Africa” is an autobiographical piece of narrative identity. Although white Western women, she has shaped her own unique identity as a non-colonial. For Africa, she replaced plunder with love and belonging; for Aboriginal she replaced trampling with respect and recognition; and for her estate she replaced grabbing with care and treasure. The author shows us some broken fragments and sporadic memories. From the narratives of these fragments and memories, we can clearly see that Brixen intentionally elaborates on the other and conceals the ego; all this shows the identity she wants to show us.
