Vitamin K is a family of 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives. Control of blood coagulation play a decisive role. The most important representative product is vitamin K_1 (phylloquinone, referred to as VK_1), which is the product of 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone substituted at the 3rd position. If the 3-position is composed of a chain of different chain length consisting of unsaturated isoprene, then it is VK-2 menaquinones.
