有人作家书与其兄。时同居疫死一人;而屠肆中肉价大贵;佃户不足,新雇一人充之;又其嫂将分娩。如是琐琐者,亦易了事也。乃其弟好用虚字,其书曰:“同居死了一人,其肉卖至一百七八十;家中新添一佃户,嫂嫂所以肚子又胖矣。”用一“其”字,用一“所以”字,其兄大惊,即报书曰:“家丑不可外扬,人肉岂容乱卖。”兄冒失而弟荒谬,令人绝倒。(清·林纾《畏庐琐记》)
