我市地处沿海,围垦滩涂资源丰富,滨海瓜农利用海涂扩种西瓜,收到明显经济效益。如灵川太湖村海涂种瓜40多亩,平均亩产2000～2500公斤。海涂种西瓜好处是:(1)西瓜具有较高耐盐力,可生长在初垦海滨滩涂地带,从而扩大种瓜区域。(2)西瓜病虫害少。(3)西瓜糖分高,皮薄,肉质风味特佳,售价高。(4)经济效益高。在同等条件下,种瓜比种甘薯、花生等作物,亩净增价值
